Research Highlights at the Leman Swine Conference
- Healicin™ ABF: A non-prescription, antibiotic-free, steroid-free nutritive spray cream.* New research demonstrates that pigs treated with Healicin ABF healed more quickly, experienced successful management of tail bites, and showed a reduced incidence of new tail bites in the population.
- Meloxicam soluble: A prescription-only, proprietary water soluble NSAID. VPS research indicates that Meloxicam improves outcomes for pigs with respiratory disease, reducing mortality and increasing the number of pigs marketed.
- Meloxicam suspension to sows: A thorough compilation of decades of research showing benefits that Meloxicam has delivered for sows and their litters.
- Astrovirus and Anti-Inflammation: Presented by Ella Moll, Iowa State University student intern, this pilot study highlights the exciting potential of NSAIDs, like Meloxicam, as an innovative strategy to safeguard airway integrity during acute PoAstV4 infection.
- PigmentRx: Contributed by Molly Jones, North Carolina State University student intern, PigmentRx is a practical, colorimetric tool developed to assess on-farm medicator dosing accuracy at the water nipple, enabling rapid evaluation and troubleshooting without specialized equipment.
